Why doesn't Intel® Optane™ Memory appear in the system or BIOS?

What are you seeing?

Module is not recognized by the system nor the application


How to fix it:

If the module doesn't appear in the operating system (application or system tools such as Device Manager or Disk Manager, access through 'Win key x'), make sure to also check the system BIOS to see if the module is detected there.

The System BIOS can be entered by pressing the 'Del' or 'F2' key during boot-up of the system in most systems.  The proper key(s) is typically displayed when the system boots and in the system user manual

If the System BIOS has the SATA mode set to the 'RAID' mode, typically something like 'Intel RST premium...', then the module should be listed under the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology section (confirm with the system manual on the location of this menu option)

  • If the module is listed, the module may have been placed offline due to remaining metadata.  Please contact the system vendor or Intel support for assistance in cleaning the metadata or troubleshooting the BIOS to detect the module in the operating system. 


If the SATA Mode is AHCI, check in the proper location to see if the module is listed (confirm proper location in the user manual for the system)

If the module is not present in either location (Operating System or BIOS), it may be damaged.  Contact Intel® Customer Support for further assistance.
